- Hi Jimmy!
My husband and I are huge fans---you seem like an awesome person and fabulous player--it was so much fun to watch your hitting streak and we love to see you steal!
Now in the playoffs you just aren't yourself and we hope you aren't injured or going through anything bad personally.
Please just go out there and HAVE FUN like you normally do playing the game--we love you!By Cynthia Rasemas From Kennett Square, PA
- "Hi Cynthia,
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, players go through rough patches throughout the season. BUT, if I can contribute in other ways, whether its playing solid defense, punping up my teammates in the dugout or stealing a base, doing whatever it takes to help my team win, I'm ok with that. Know what i'm sayin?
Peace,
J-Roll" - hey jimmy your baseball gloves are off the hook lol where can you buy them?i play softball and my team went to the championship so happy!! i saw you at the gossage dinner you looked great hope to see you at citi field 1 love congrats for clinching your divison go phillies!!By jennifer decosta From staten island, NY
- "What up Jen,
Congrats on your squad going to the championship! Many people ask me about my glove and the thing is Nike makes it custom for me so they aren't available in stores...sorry about that!
good luck in your championship game and thanx for the love.

J-Roll" - hey jimmy what was going through your head when you made that game winning double-play. william,nyBy william cowan From manhattan, NY

J-Roll" - hey jimmy i was wondering how do you get your batting gloves customized? is there any chance that i can get batting gloves customized? do know where i could get some like that? thanksBy Darren From escondido, CA
- "What up Darren,
Yeah Nike takes care of that stuff for me. They do my batting gloves, fielding glove and shoes all custom. I don't think they make them for everyone though. Sorry big guy.
Thanks for the shout out.
Peace,
J-Roll" - hey jimmy i am a big fan and u set a great example of how baseball can be played for youngsters to follow you and so they can play the game jut like Mr.MVP doesBy cooper From oley, PA
- "Hey Coop,
Thanks for the love. That's how I was taught to play the game and I hope young kids see and follow...we as athletes have to always remember that kids are watching and must lead by example.
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey Jimmy,
I would first just like to thank you for being an example of how the game should be played on the field, but also of how one should conduct themselves off the field. Star status oftentimes comes with the territory of professional sports, and I'm glad you have accepted that responsibility instead of giving a negative perception to the children who look up to you. Being a before and afterschool program teacher and administrator I see the positive and negative affects pro athletes can have on impressionable minds. Your spirit and talent combined make you a true sight to watch, and I hope for all the best for you and the team. In hopes of helping, would you please give me some info about your personal charitable interests because I'm always looking to have my kids involved and helping others. Jimmy, please continue to hold yourself to that higher standard so that the youth of the future can also feel the accopmlishment of greatness. P.S. Keep smiling too. You have a great one and it reveals your authentic love of the game. Thanks, Kristyn from New JerseyBy Kristyn Hoke From Wenonah, NJ
- "Kristyn,
I appreciate your kind words and I have to say that this is one of the nicest e-mails I have received. Coming from a great family taught me the many things that I practice day in and day out and without that, I don't know where I'd be today. I am holding my 2nd Annual Charity bowling tournament on may 31 to help out children with arthritis...please check it out on the website. I also think it's great that you work with the kids - keep up the good work and thanks again for your support.
Peace,
J-Roll" - where do you get your batting gloves from? i really like your styles of gloves and would like to purchase some for myselfBy Patrick From somerdale, NJ
- "Hey Patrick,
Nike designs them for me and sends them out...I'm not sure if you can buy them online through the Nike website or maybe a catalog like eastbay or somethin'. thanks for noticing though!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey Jimmy I have been counting down the day until baseball 07 starts and it never starts soon enough for me! How soon after the end of the year do you start working out for the next year? I have been trying to get my kids into indoor baseball. I think they need to play as much as they can to keep there game good. What do you think? hope you have a great year and I'll see you in the playoffs! bill By william cummons From fairlesshills, PA
- "Bill I dont give away my baseball secrets, but when the season is over all I want to do is rest. You can never practice too much but keep practice short. the less time they have to practice the more they will concentrate and focus on doing things right, but dont rush practice."
- What's up Jim Bob. You are truly representing for all of us who played Oakland Babe Ruth. Keep up the good work and continue to be the role model you are. You have inspired me to start playing baseball again. My brother and family says hi. By Omarri Murphy From Oakland, Ca, CA
- "Jimbob........... I havent heard that in a minute. Whats good? I wish you had sent in your name with this email so I could know who this is but thanks anyway. Tell everyone I say hello and hit me back with your name etc, yaddada."
- Hello Jimmy.
Over the past 5 years I have considered you to be the most exciting player to watch in baseball. I play outfield for the College of William and Mary's Club Baseball team (www.wm.edu/so/baseball/) and proudly display #11 on my uniform. We play two games a week usually and we all share a deep love of the game. The guys I know on the Varsity squad don't seem to enjoy the game as much, as it has become their job. Do you still enjoy playing everyday and have fun? You sure look like you do. Thank you for the memories and I am very excited for the upcoming season.
Sincerely,
Gordo
PS, like you with the bigs, my first hit with the club baseball team was a triple (a two-run triple).By Gordon Breish From Fort Washington, PA
- "Gordo, what it do? Thanks for hitting the site & for the question. The answer is yes! Of course I still enjoy the game everyday. The challenge of winning and playing in Philly is great and congrats on your first triple."

Peace,
J-Roll" - Wazzup "Big J"? Jared & I are still thrilled about seeing you in Seattle recently. You scored the 1st run and the run that won the game. Watching you play in that game shows me why your stats are awesome! Thanks for treating us so well. Your mom called me on my cell during the game to make sure we got to see and talk to you. The last time we saw you before Seattle was when you were 11 years old at our home in Longview when your Oakland team won the Bambino World Series in 1990, as we were honored to host you at our home for 10 days. Our family has a wonderful display with all your memorabilia in our home and all the awesome photo's your mother has sent us, even with you signing with your manager and agent and the family dinner. Those photo's are priceless and treasureable. Jared has a great display in his apartment with your autographed ball, bat and hat you gave him. He had his own hand made out of clay with your autographed baseball setting on his palm. It looks awesome. Brent wished he was home to come see you with us. We enjoyed watching your sister play Basketball in Portland, Oregon the summer before this past one with your parents. Jared came down one day, however Brent and I drove down everyday to watch Shay play and spend the day with your folks. Congratulations on all your accomplishments so far. You told us at the age of 11 you wanted to go pro. We have been enjoyed watching your dreams come true and are honored to be part of your life. I won't forget MC Hammer, "U Can't Touch This" and you winning the bubble gum contest at the picnic for the biggest bubble. I have a photo with it popping all over your face. We still have the nice dent you put in our shed in backyard playing baseball with your team members and our son, Jared. It's a keeper! Hey J-Roll, you take care, stay happy (you have a beautiful smile.)You are fortunate to have precious and supportive parents, brother and sister as well as us, your 1990 host family that has wonderful memories and won't forget your great sense of humor and love to laugh. Remember God loves you and so do we! Don't forget us as we won't you! Someone thinks alot of you and thinks of you alot. I DO! Peace, Rita and familyBy Rita Walker From Longview, WA
- "Dear Walker Family, especially you Rita,
How is everything? those were the good old days and I thought the dent in the shed came from me running into it with the four wheeler? I do remember the bubble gum contest but what I remember the most was the basketball court and the trampoline so we could dunk the basketball. That was a lot of fun! Thank you for your care and support throughout the years it has meant a lot to me and it was a treat to see you and Jared in Seattle 2 last year. By the way you havent aged at all!
Peace" - Hey Jimmy,
I just saw you on ESPN and you said that you like being a charachter and not just a ball player. According to my school education, I am required to come up with a project which reflects my interests. And because I play a lot of basktball, i always wonder, "what does it take to become such a successful athlete."
I would really love to hear from you and you will make my day!
Thanks,
KareemBy Kareem From Amman, Jordan
- "Kareem, to become a successful anything first you have to have talent!
Once you discover that talent, you need to be focused, determined and believe you can accomplish what it is your out to do. Good luck!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hi Jimmy, not question just a comment. I have watched the phillies since I was four years old and even after all the players that have been in Philly I think your one of the best. Watching you play short stop is so great I never know what amazing catch you'll make. I hope yo get even better.Stay safe.By Shells From Erial, NJ
- "Shells,
Thank you for the compliment and i hope to continue to get better also!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Jimmy,
I just wanted to let you know that I was fortunate enough to attend the BaseBOWL tournament. I drew the picture of you that was auctioned off for the event. I wanted to thank you for hosting a great event for a great cause and let you know it was a pleasure meeting you. Also, If you ever need any artwork for future events or even your private collection, please let me know. You can check out some samples of my work on briancondronstudios.com.
Thanks again and good luck the rest of the season.
Brian CondronBy Brian Condron From Tinton Falls, NJ
- "Brian, thank you for the painting and for donating it to the event. It was a beautiful picture and I'm sure the buyer at my tournament is extremely happy with it! Thanks again!
Peace,
J-Roll" - What is a baseball player's typical day like?? Like, do you have practice everyday?? Even if you have a game?? Also, after games what time do you usually get home?? After games, do you have a team meeting??
Thanks for answering my questions Jimmy and keep up the great work!!
-Melissa OchalBy Melissa Ochal From Ardsley, PA
- "A ballplayers typical day is rather normal except when we are on the road.
Then we have to live out of our suitcases for maybe the next week to ten days. As far as practice we do that every day but its probably not what you would think. Scouting reports, looking at different charts and preparation for the game is our practice.
Thanks for the question!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey Jimmy,
Wow. You are for sure the best shortstop in the league. That was incredible when you hit 2 home runs and scored 5 runs in a game. Anyways, what does it feel like when a player from your team gets traded? Thanks Jimmy and keep putting up big numbers!
-DariusBy Darius From San Francisco, CA
- "Thanks D. When a player gets traded there is a feeling of uncertainty, especially when that player is an everyday player. Then the focus is about how the team will respond. If the player is a dear friend then it hurts to know that he will not be around everyday any longer. Know what I'm sayin'?
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey JRoll...
You are awesome, most exciting shortstop in the game, in my opinion. Just wanted to ask... why do you wear #11? By Chris From Cherry Hill, NJ
- "I wear #11 because #6 was taken at the time by Doug Glanville. So my next favorite number was #11. Plus it makes me appear taller, haha!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey Jimmy. So I've noticed that all of the questions are baseball-related, appropriately so. However, I HAVE to ask one for all of the ladies... what is your relationship status? Along with your talent on the field, you are without a doubt one of the games most beautiful players! A girl's gotta dream! By Kelly From Pottstown, PA
- "Well, sorry to report ladies but I have a girlfriend! However that is very sweet, thank you!"
- Hey, J- Roll. What's up? My dad got me onto watching baseball and I really enjoy watching the Phillies. I always argue with my friends about who is more of a fan for their team. It's really funny. (GO PHILLIES) Keep up the good work!!!!
By Rose From Stockton, NJ
- "Hey Rose,
Thanks for the love...very funny! My family is big into sports as well and growing up, we always watched games together on TV back in Cali. Thanks again for the support and keep watchin'!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Hey Jimmy! I don't have a question, just a comment. You are the type of player that fans love to come and see because of your hard work on the field and your heart & love for the game. Your personality is very energetic and the fans feed off that. Your dedication to winning is well known. You really are a great overall player that is a key part to this team. Go Phils!By Vanessa From Pottstown, PA
- "Vanessa,
Thanks so much for your nice comments. I am very fortunate to be where I am today and it is because of hard work and dedication. You can't take this game for granted and have to stay humble no matter what...or this game can eat you alive. Thanks for your support!
Peace,
J-Roll" - Jimmy no question, just a comment. I was proud to hear you called a players only meeting yesterday. I think the team's looking for leadership Jimmy, and why not you. I've been a Yankees fan all my life, but moved to the Philly area 15 years ago. I've become a Phillies fan, not because of my locale, but because of the young talent on this team. I love how you play and I love how you're working the pitch count more. Keep it going Jimmy, the city's behind you.
BillBy Bill Everett From Lansdale, PA
- "Thanks for the support Billy! Nobody ever wants to call a players only meeting but sometimes it takes something like that to turn things around - know what I'm sayin? We have a great bunch of guys in the clubhouse and we came out and responded with a W. Appreciate ya.
J-Rollins" - Jimmy,
What are some of the charitable and community outreach programs that you are involved in. Also, could you tell me of some of your upcoming events and causes? Thanks!
-Mike
By Mike Avale From Philadelphia, PA
- "Mike, I am hosting my first ever bowling tournament on August 10th to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It should be pretty cool as a bunch of my teammates and other local athletes are coming out to help support the Foundation. We have some info on the website - check it out!
J-Rollins" - Hey Jimmy. You're an awesome shortstop. What was it like playing with Jim Thome? Also, why do you point up to the sky after you get a hit? Thanks for reading this. Keep up the good work. Go Phils!By K.T. From Akron, OH
- "playing with thome was great. he is a very caring person and one heck of a slugger! i had always admired him in cleveland so when we signed him i was very excited J.Rollins"
- First i just want to say you are the all time best and coolest player in history i'm going to see you play baltimore even though i live in Maryland i am so rooting for you. The BaseBowl sounds like a great time is there a limit to the amount of 4 man teams this benefit will allow ? What big names will be there? By Tony Spinelli From Secane, PA
- "Hey Tony,
We will have 12 4-man teams at the BaseBowl tournament and we just got ESPN and hometown boy, Stephen A. Smith to host it. Other than that, we will have a bunch of the guys from the team like Rowand, Chase, Ryan H., Flash and many others. Come out and show some love - it's for a good cause!
Later,
J-Roll" - Jimmy,
What's going on? I just wanted to take a minute first off to let you know that you are the coolest player in the Major Leagues. You play the game with a joy and passion that is missing with a lot of today's players. On top of all that, you are a great person who really genuinely cares about the fans. I have one question for you. Who is the toughest pitcher that you have ever faced? Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing you when the Phils visit Boston!By Nick From Clinton, MA
- "What up Nick,
once again thanks for considering me the coolest player in the show - thats a great compliment. the toughest pitcher i face is probably Livan Hernandez. He is a crafty guy on the mound and knows how to move the ball around at different speeds." - Hey Jimmy,
I wanted to thank you for signing my baseball at the game. I think you are the coolest and the best shortstop I know. Way Way better than Jeter. What made you start wearing corn rose?? I think it is cool!! I will be watching you play the Nationals tonight! Have a great Memorial Day.
Your the best,
JoeyBy Joey Sadik From West Chester, PA
- "hey J,
thanks for considering me the coolest and best shortstop in the game - i appreciate it. I wore corn rows just for the fun of it. I wanted to a while before i actually did it but i dont think it would have been accepted in the minor leagues back then.
Peace,
J-Roll" - Yo J-Roll What workouts do you do in the off season to stay fitBy Matt From Harrisburg, SD
- "Hey Matt,
the first thing I do in the off season is rest. After 162 games my body needs it. then I start out running about a mile to get my legs underneath me and get my lungs back into shape. after about a week of running i hit the weights, legs extensions, leg curls and press, shoulder work biceps & triceps and lower and upper back.
J-Roll" - whats up j-roll
do you think that the phils have a good chance of making it to the playoffs. and you have inspired all 3 of us to try hard to live out our dreams in playing in the mlb.
good luck and keep up the hard work.By zach marco and adam From madison, WI
- "What's up fellas,
that's great to know that you three are inpired by what i do - to live out your dreams of becoming a major league ballplayer, its not easy but worth all the effort. yes yes yes we have an excellent chance of making the playoffs. The mets are in front now but thats just for now.
Be good!
J-Roll" - Yo J-Roll...you are the best shortstop in the game, better than Jeter and all of them...and i enjoy watching you play the game with high intensity but always having fun doing it...what drives you to be like you are and what do u think of A-Row's catch in CF?By C. Majikes From Larksvile, PA
- "Hey C,
what drives me can be summed up very easily - wanting to be the best to ever step on the field as a shortstop and second is being a champ, world series champ (over and over and over.............). A-Row's catch was real good! the fact that he held on to the ball after crashing into the fence, that was great.
J-Roll" - What's up, J-Roll?
I wondered if you ever saw this on the web, given that it is all about you and your streak.
http://www.ballssticksstuff.com/2006/04/the_jimmy_rolli.html
We got to get you to the All-Star game this year.
MikeBy Mike H. From SoCal, CA
- "Yo Mike,
